Pastor James E. Cooper – 71
Of Ray City, GA passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Select Specialty Hospital in Tallahassee, FL. He was born in Douglas, GA to the late John T. and Lucille (Merritt) Cooper. He was a pastor for over 17 years and was a missionary in Alaska for 3 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served 3 years. Mr. Cooper was a supervisor in the heavy equipment shop at Moody Air Force Base. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by: 3 brothers, Danny Ray Cooper, Jerome Cooper and Johnny Cooper; 2 sisters, Martha Jean Berger and Joyce Gray.
Survivors include his Wife of 52 years, Linda Cooper of Ray City, GA; Son and Daughter-in-Law, James “Timbo” & Shannon Cooper of Ray City, GA; Daughter, Misty R. Cooper of Ray City, GA; Grandchildren, Ashley (Dylan) Miley of Valdosta, GA and Amber Cooper of Ray City, GA; Great Grandson, Cooper Ray Miley; Sisters, Alma Moakley of Lakeland, GA, Linda Sue Adle of Valdosta, GA, Glenda Carol Alexander of Hahira, GA, Brenda Knight of Nashville, GA; Brother, Thomas “Skeeter” Cooper of Morven, GA; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in the Beaver Dam Cemetery.
