Patricia Rose Mair, 71

Of Valdosta, formally of Sale City, GA passed away at South Georgia Medical Center on Thursday, July 5, 2012 after an extended illness. She was born January 24, 1941 to D.H. and Bertha Rose, and grew up inAshburn, GA. Ms. Pat, as she was known to all, worked as a graphic designer and layout artist and later as an educator. She worked as a special education teacher at Pelham High School for over 15 years and touched the lives of each of her students and co-workers alike. In 1995, Ms. Mair was selected as the recipient of Department of Rehabilitative Services Southwest Georgia Achievement Award and in 1996 was a torchbearer in the Torch Relay for the Olympics games held in Atlanta. She was an inspiration to all, never letting her handicap stop her from living her life to the fullest. Ms. Mair was a member of Hand Memorial United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jack Rose and her beloved guide dog, Cyrus.

Survivors include, Daughters & Son-in
Laws; Robin & Cecil Fowler, Moultrie, GA
Lark & Ed Joyner, Lake Park, GA; 5 Grandchildren, Justin Fowler, Brian Fowler, Kelsey Joyner, Emily Joyner, William Joyner; a number of nieces, nephews and relatives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Hand Memorial United Methodist Church in Pelham, Ga. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 South Rochester Rd., Rochester, Michigan 48307 http://www.leaderdog.org/ or to your local Lions Club.
