Pauline “Paula” Ruth Horne McGuire, 74
Paula was born in Fort Myers, Florida, on October 23, 1951. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eddie McGuire; her mother, Pauline Davis Horne; her stepmother, Rebecca Gibson Horne; her father, L. E. Horne; her sisters, Ann Conn Durrance and Mary Francis Horne; and her brother, George H. Horne.
She is survived by her two sons, Gerald Lee Horne and James Robert Horne; her sisters, Sandy Slaughter of Elgin, South Carolina, and Lynne Horne Deonas (Nick) of Fernandina Beach, Florida; and her brother, Pastor Ed Horne (Jami) of Arcadia, Florida. She is also survived by two grandsons, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
When Paula accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, her life became a beautiful testimony of transformation and redemption. The fruits of the Spirit were evident in her life—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control—as she walked as a new creation in Christ.
Paula was an active and devoted member of her church home, Lovejoy Community Church in Lakeland, Georgia. She loved to serve and was involved in many areas of ministry. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, she often led worship. She also joyfully served in Vacation Bible School, the food ministry, the ladies ministry, and many other areas that were dear to her heart.
Like her father, who was a gladiola farmer, Paula loved growing flowers and nurturing plants. She had a deep love for her family, her friends, and animals. Her pets brought her comfort and companionship, especially after the passing of her husband.
Her marriage to Eddie McGuire in 2017 was a true gift from God. They shared a sweet and joyful love, serving together in their church and bringing happiness to one another. They often seemed like a young couple in love.
Paula’s life is a beautiful testament to what the Lord can do in a person’s heart and life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
