Phillip A. Guthrie – 76 of Nashville passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born on February 7, 1942 to the late Roy & Ruby (Rowan) Guthrie in Berrien Co., GA. Not only did he serve his country in the United States Army, he served his community as a deputy sheriff of Berrien County. He owned and operated Guthrie Salvage yard in Nashville for many years. He was Baptist by faith. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Guthrie, son, Robert Guthrie; brothers: Harry Guthrie, Roy Guthrie & Jonathon Guthrie.
Survivors include: 2 Sons & Daughters-in-law: Phillip “Phil” & Kellie Guthrie II, Lake Park, GA, Henry Guthrie, Springfield, OH; 2 Grandchildren: Violet Guthrie & Kayla Guthrie; 3 Great Grandchildren: Braylon Weldon, Maverick Weldon & Bailey Sue Weldon; Sister: Martha Mathis, Nashville, GA; Brother: Stephen Guthrie, Jacksonville, FL and a number of nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in the Guthrie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
