Ralph Edward Nice, 92, of Valdosta, GA, passed away on March 18, 2026. He was born on September 10, 1933, in San Jose, California. Ralph was the beloved son of Ralph Edward and Myrtle Maxine (Fernside) Nice.
He will be remembered as a man of curiosity, craftsmanship, and quiet dedication—someone who found joy in understanding how things worked and bringing them back to life. He had a deep love for tinkering with old cars and motorcycles, taking pride in every detail and every repair. Among his most cherished projects were his work on a 1946 Ford, a 1938 Buick, and a 1941 Cadillac 60 Special, each reflecting not just mechanical skill but a genuine passion for history and design.
Ralph served in the United States Army Signal Corp. at Ft. Gordon, Georgia from 1953 to 1955. This exposure to the development and maintenance of military communications equipment fostered Ralph’s interest in telecommunication and led to his life long career in this field. He also helped many U.S. military veterans through contribution to various support organization.
His professional life was marked by commitment and service in the telecommunications field. He spent five meaningful years in Waxahachie, Texas, where he oversaw five telephone offices, earning respect for his leadership and steady guidance. His career also took him to Vandenberg, California, Puerto Rico; and Florida, where he contributed his expertise during the Apollo project—playing a small but important role in a monumental chapter of history.
Whether at home in his workshop or serving in his profession, he approached life with patience, ingenuity, and a willingness to lend a hand. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who knew him, not only for what he built and repaired, but for the care and dedication he brought to everything he did.
As dedicated Christians, Ralph and his wife, Carmen, participated in expanding several Spanish Baptist Missionary programs in Valdosta/Lowndes County area. Ralph was a very kind, generous, and benevolent person.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Ada Nice, and his parents, Ralph Edward Nice and Myrtle Maxine (Fernside) Nice, and Grandson, Joshua.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Wilson (Don) of Oregon; his son, Gerald Nice-Anderson (Jerry) of Los Banos, California; his sisters, Lois Nice Jensen of Mt. Aukum, California, and Loraine Nice Thomas (Wayne) of Red Bluff, California; his stepdaughter, Judy Jones (Andrew) of Louisville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Daniel Anderson, Shane, Meagan, Rafee G, and Jamel; his great-grandchildren, Landon, Faith, and Sawyer; and several nieces and nephews, including Scott Jensen, Todd Jensen, Ron Thomas, and Pamela Thomas.
