Raymond Ray Fisher, of Lakeland, Georgia, completed his journey here on earth and went to be with his beloved wife, Elva, in heaven on October 27, 2010. He was born on August 19, 1931, in Barnes, Kansas, to Fred and Bertha Fisher. Ray worked for Famous Brands, Jackson Trucklines, and ONC Trucklines, and was a member of the local Teamsters Union in Topeka, Kansas before retirement. He was a devoted member of Town and Country Christian Church in Topeka, KS and then First Baptist Church of Lakeland in Lakeland, Georgia. He married his wife Elva Brouhard Fisher in 1952. Ray and Elva had 4 children together, Jeanette Davee Genini, Judy Fisher, Shari Mo Leavitt, and Traci Eric Felock. Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife Elva, daughter Judy, brothers Albert, Frank, Ted, David, and Wilfred, sisters Anna, Alice, Esther, Mary, and Norma Jean. Ray is survived by his faithful companion, Buster the cat, daughters Jeanette, Shari, and Traci, grandchildren Steve, Tony, Brandon Jennifer, Samantha David, Tim, Devin, Joshua, Ryan, Calina, Nick, Matthew, Georgie, Bryanne, and Claire, and soon-to-be-born great granddaughter Lila. A memorial service and celebration of Ray's life will be held at First Baptist Church of Lakeland, GA on Monday Nov. 1st at 6:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka, KS on Sunday, Nov. 7th at 10:00 am. Ray's wishes are that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his name to the building renovation fund at First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 427, Lakeland, GA 31635 or to your local Humane Society.
