Retired Sgt First Class Charles Clifford Jay Best, age 67, of Hahira, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at his residence. He was born on July 26, 1956, in Zanesville, Ohio to Christopher Ralph and Rose (Jones) Best. Charles found pleasure in fishing and golfing, and his devotion to his family was unwavering. Serving our country for 22 years in the United States Army, he specialized in the transportation sector as 88 mike. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Regina Best, Hahira, Georgia; son & daughter-in-law: Jeremiah Best (Gena), Moultrie, Georgia; daughter, Jessica Best of Copperas Cove, Texas; three children in Germany; brother, Christopher Keith Best of Zanesville, Ohio; sister, Darlenea Scheck of Zanesville, Ohio.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 26, 2024, in Riverview Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be rendered. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at
