Retired CMSGT Lowell Allen Young – 74
Of Valdosta passed away early Tuesday, morning May 3, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 15, 1937 in Fitzgerald, GA to the late Henry Jesse & Beatrice Blanche Williams Young. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Masonic Lodge. Mr. Young retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 31 years of service. Following his military service he worked as a civilian contractor for the United States Air Force in Adana, Turkey. Once he left Turkey he moved to Taif, Saudi Arabia and worked for Lear Siegler as a Fire Chief. In 1993 he came back home to Valdosta and worked for Amerisource. Then in 1997 he moved back to Saudi Arabia and provided Technical Assistance to the Saudi Government and then he came back to Valdosta in 1998.
He is survived by his, Wife, Maryann Young, Valdosta, GA; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Dale & Julie Young, Hahira, GA, l Jeff & Tina Young, New Jersey, Lowell Young, Jr., Valdosta, GA; Daughters & Son-in-law, Toni Marie Young, Albuquerque, NM, Lisa & Danny Higgins, Charlotte, NC; 9 Grandchildren; Sisters & Brothers-in-law, Joyce & Larry Barnes, Cordele, GA, Linda & Steve Griffin, Fitzgerald, GA; Brother & Sister-in-law, Kenny & Sue Young, Fitzgerald, GA
Funeral service will be held at 12:10 PM Friday, April 6, 2011 in St. John's Catholic Church with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday, April 5, 2011 at the funeral home.
