Rickey Plair

Rickey Plair “Santa Claus” - 60 of Lake Park went 10-42 at 0350 hours on Saturday Morning (January 20, 2018) in Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was born October 26, 1957, in Valdosta, GA, to the late Ira Lee and Annie Pearl Barrentine Plair and was raised by Sydney and Annie Pearl Tanner. Santa Claus, as he was affectionally called by many, played the part since 1979. Rickey worked as a dispatcher for Valdosta PD and Lowndes County 911 as well as a VSU Public Safety Communications Officer for a total of 31 years. When not working, Rickey enjoyed singing Karaoke and spending time with his friends and family. He also was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many families for the past 38 years.
Survivors include his: Daughter & Son-in-Law: Krista & Curtis Howell of Lake Park; Grandchildren: Jacob Howell and Summer Howell; Sister: Debbie Prinicipie of Powder Springs, GA; Brother and Sister-in-law: David (Ann) Holmes of Pinetta, FL; Sister and Brother-in-law: Martha (Jimmy) Strickland of Valdosta, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

As per Mr. Plairs’ wishes he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at Redland Baptist Church on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to service time. Mr. Plair will arrive on his Christmas parade horse drawn carriage at 12:00 PM at the church.
