Ricky Watson, age 69, of Ray City, GA passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL after a brief illness. He was born on July 17, 1953 in Warner Robins, GA to the late H.W. & Emogene (Moore) Watson. Ricky served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He just simply enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially playing golf, fishing, hunting, dancing, gambling but most importantly spending time with his family and friends. Everyone that knew him, knew he never met a stranger and always had a smile. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 32 years of service. He began his career as a rural carrier and quickly worked his way to postmaster. While working as a carrier, he quickly figured out where he could stop and get a quick bite of a fresh pie and catch some of the “Young and the Restless”. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his step sons: B.J. Clement & Jesse Clement, paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents.
Survivors Include his loving wife of twenty-eight years Libby W. Watson of Ray City, GA; daughter, Missy W. Mullican of Lakeland, GA; son, Tony Watson of Lakeland, GA; daughter and son-in-law: Caleshia Gayle Paulk (Jeramy) of Lakeland, GA; sister and brother-in-law: Delita W. Shearl (Mike) of Timberlake, NC; 5 Granddaughters; 4 Grandsons; 3 Great Grandbabiesl a niece, Jessica Lewis (Cam) of Middletown, Rhode Island; n nephew, Michael Shearl (Kaylee) of Roxboro, NC, great-nephews, Mason and Maverick Lewis Lenox Shearl and Grand dog: Greyson.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the Southside Baptist Church, 326 South Highway 221, Lakeland, GA with burial following at Empire Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Southside Baptist Church on Friday evening, January 20, 2023.
