Robert W. Battermann – 72
of O'Fallon, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. Robert was born on October 7, 1943 in Tacoma, WA. He was the son of Walter H. & Erna A. Battermann, nee Heidecke of Portland, OR. Robert was a 28 year USAF Ret. Major, also serving with the U.S. Army, and receiving a Purple Heart. He was a die-hard "Trekkie", huge Marvel & DC comic book fan, and enjoyed photography. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Vivian Mann Vamvas; and a grandson, Michael Logan Battermann.
Robert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Verna Battermann, nee Mann, of O'Fallon, IL; daughters, Denise William Battermann-Dickinson of Valdosta, GA, and LuAnn T.J. Kerlin of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren, Braden Dickinson, Sierra Dickinson, Chase Kerlin, and Abigail Kerlin; sister-in-law, Virginia Emling; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 1:00PM on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org , or to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, www.npcf.us .
