Robert Steele Cornelius, Jr. – 73
Of Valdosta, GA passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the Hospice House of South Georgia. He was born on June 25, 1944 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Robert Steele Cornelius, Sr. and Elizabeth (Barrett) Campbell. He retired from Moody Air Force Base after serving in the United States Air Force for 26 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked Air Traffic Control for the Valdosta Regional Airport for 17 years. Known as Bob or Corny to everyone, he was known for his witty sense of humor, pinochle skill and his love of NASCAR and all types of music. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Cheatwood.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Teresita Cornelius; daughters Sharon Elizabeth Edwards and Catherine Michelle Back; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, Danielle Kelly and Kay Kousek, and a multitude more of loving family and friends. He was a long-standing member of Christ The King Episcopal Church. Special thanks to his niece, Becky French, for her caregiving and companionship.
