Robert Charles Jabon – 91
Of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home. He was born on October 13, 1932 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Marcelino Jabon and Conchetta (Saladino) Jabon. Robert joined the United States Air Force in June of 1948 and served for 21 years before his retirement. He achieved Chief Master Sergeant and was a Flight Simulator Superintendent. During his time in the Air Force, he also earned his bachelor’s degree in art education from the University of Oklahoma. After his retirement, he taught applied art at Brooks County High School for 23 years. While teaching, he received his master’s degree in education administration where he graduated with his son Phillip on the same day. In his free time, he enjoyed flying his plane, scuba diving, sailing on his sailboat and fishing. He loved to run and completed numerous marathons including the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta. He loved his family and spending time with them. He also loved and had a special bond with his constant companion, Daisy. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Phillip Vernon Jabon; brother, Joseph Anthony Jabon; sister, Gloria Jean Hoover.
Survivors include his wife, Julianne Kent Jabon of Valdosta, Georgia; son, Steven Charles Jabon of Atlanta, Georgia; daughters: Pamela Sue Jabon of Valdosta, Georgia, Karen Lee Jabon of Valdosta, Georgia; granddaughters: Daphne Fletcher King (Kevin), Lily Grace Jabon; great grandchildren: Fletcher, Kramer and Slater; daughter-in-law, Melissa Millikan of Alpharetta, Georgia; sister, Leatrice Couch of San Antonio, Texas; nephew, Brett Couch of San Antonio, Texas; numerous cousins and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023 in the chapel of Music Funeral Services, Valdosta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the funeral home. As per his wishes, following the service he will be cremated and privately interred at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
