Robert V. Plehn
LAKELAND Dr. Robert V. Plehn, 83, of Lakeland, passed away at his residence Saturday, April 23, 2005, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Scottsbluff, Neb., on Feb. 11, 1922, to Dr. Frank Wallace and Elipha Effie Peters Plehn. He was being cared for by his wife Geraldine, and his extended family, the staff of Louis Smith Memorial Hospital and Lakeland Villa Nursing Home. Dr. Plehn operated the Lakeland Pain Clinic before ill health forced his retirement. Having been raised by a father who was a physician for 45 years, it is no surprise that he attended University of Nebraska School of Medicine beginning in September 1948, graduating in June 1952. He then practiced medicine for over 52 years, without a single malpractice suit against him. Prior to entering medical school he served in the U.S. Navy as an aviator.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Gerri Plehn, Lakeland; daughter and son-in-law, Michele Plehn and Dwayne E. Ayres, Jacksonville, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James G. Plehn, Utica, N.Y. and their family; all his wonderful friends at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital Lakeland.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Wednesday April 27, 2005, in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lakeland.Donations can be made to the Louis Smith Memorial Hospital Foundation Lakeland.
