Robert Ray Price – 75
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert Ray Price, of Lakeland, Georgia, announces his passing on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 3, 1949, in Albany, Georgia, to the late William Lawrence Price and Hazel Pickered Price.
A skilled painter by trade, Mr. Price dedicated many years of service to the city of Lakeland. However, it was his deep passion for music that truly defined him. His love for music was celebrated by his induction into the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame, a recognition of his talent and contributions to the local music scene. Robert cherished the moments spent playing music and singing with family and friends, and he became a beloved regular at the Moultrie Jamboree (VFW), where he created many lifelong friendships.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 30 years, Debbie Jean Price, who was a central part of his life
He is survived by his three beloved children: Michelle (Laney) Gruver of Homerville, GA; Stephanie (John) Skinner of Lakeland, GA; and Robert (Tanya) Price of Lakeland, GA. He is also survived by his sister, Billy Jean Graham of Albany, GA, and his loving partner, Carol Brooks.
He leaves behind a legacy of eight grandchildren: Morgan (Abi) Gruver of Savannah, GA; Charles (Heather) Gruver of Tifton, GA; Matthew Gruver (Brittany Bush) of Tifton, GA; Tre (Tiffany) Harris of Bainbridge, GA; Danielle Harris of Lakeland, GA; Robbie (Porshe) Price of Lakeland, GA; JC Price of Lakeland, GA; and Jesse (Whitney) Skinner of Nashville, GA.
His cherished family includes 15 great-grandchildren: Braylee Heard, Kenley Skinner, Carter Skinner, Tyndall Skinner, Avie Skinner, Charlie Browning, Remington Coleman, Jaylen Harris, Jensen Harris, Tristan Price, Landon Price, Juliana Claire Price, Hazel Price, Lucy Gruver, and Ava Bush. He is also survived by one great-great-grandchild, Olivia North, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom will hold his memory close in their hearts.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of South Georgia for the compassionate care and support they provided during this difficult time. We are also deeply appreciative of the outpouring of prayers and support from family and friends, which has brought us comfort and strength.
A very special and sincere thank you goes to our sister, Stephanie, and brother, John, for their unwavering love and dedication in caring for our father over the past four years, especially during his illness. Your selfless devotion has meant the world to us, and we are forever grateful for the love and care you gave him.
