Of Lakeland passed away Friday, December 16, 2011 in Louis Smith Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 20, 1957 in Albany, GA. He graduated from Clinch County High School in 1975. He owned and operated Fender Auto Sales and Clinch Auto Sales and also, worked with the family business, Fender Smokehouse. He had a passion for cars, hunting and fishing. Mr. Fender was a member of Camp Creek Missionary Baptist Church and attended the Ray City Church of God where his son, Dennis serves as Pastor. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ira Darrell Fender and a nephew, Josh Browning.
Mr. Fender is survived by his, Wife, Gwen Fender, Lakeland, GA; Daughters, Amanda Fender Ray, Lakeland, GA, Tammy Becton, Lakeland, GA; Sons & Daughters-in-law, Phil Becton & Pam Southerland, Lakeland, GA, Ron Fender & Britini Blackmore, Lakeland, GA, Pastor Dennis & Lesley Rowland Lakeland, GA; 9 Grandchildren: Macy Ray, Mary Hannah Burch, Ashley Becton, Aaron Becton, Marlee Fender, Andrew Rowland, Jacob Rowland, Whitney Southerland and Taylor Hutchinson; Mother & Step Father, Vita & David Chesemore, Lakeland, GA; Father & Step Mother, Ira & Marjorie Fender, Dupont, GA; Sister, Elaine Sherrod, Thomasville, GA
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 20, 2011 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Arabia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM – 8:00 PM Monday, December 19, 2011 at the funeral home.
