Rosa Hasty died on Oct. 5 in Kirkland, WA, due to complications from a fall. She was 97.
Mrs. Hasty was born on Aug. 12, 1916 in Hawkinsville, GA, one of nine children of Carl and Zella Arthur. After graduating from high school in Shellman, GA, she moved to Albany, GA where she worked and eventually married Victor Hasty. In 1945, they moved to Valdosta, where she resided until 2008. She then moved to the Seattle area to live with her daughter. Mrs. Hasty retired from civil service after 20 years at Moody AFB, where she worked in the Accounting/finance office.
She was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church and volunteered at the South Georgia Medical Center.
Survivors include her son, Ellis Hasty of Rosarita Beach, Mexico, and daughter, Carole Hasty Leslie of Kirkland, WA.
3 Grandchildren: Kim Hasty Aldrich, of Orlando, Fl., Brett Leslie of Seattle, WA, and Ben Hasty of Jacksonville, Fl.
2 Great grand children: Braden Hasty and Ruby Leslie
3 sisters: Louise Mitchell of Albany, GA, Florence Arnold of Shellman, GA, and Francis Hunter of Traveler's Rest, SC.
There will be a grave side service at Riverview Memorial Cemetery on Friday Oct. 18, 2013 at 11:00 followed by a "celebration of life" at Crossroads Baptist Church. Sympathy may be expressed on-line at
