Rose Petrey Hall 81, of Valdosta, GA died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Rose was born on April 30, 1940 in Harlan, KY to the late Noble Petrey and Mary (Grubbs) Petrey. Rose spent her childhood in Harlan, KY where she met her husband, Marvin Cecil Allen and moved to Cincinnati, OH and had 3 children, Judy, Debbie and Pam. In 1976 she married Robert “Bob” M. Hall and moved to Georgia to follow Bob’s career as a United States Marshall. Rose began her career with the Department of Corrections at the Women’s Correctional Facility in Milledgeville Prison. She later transferred to Valdosta State Prison and moved with her husband to Valdosta. Anybody that came through the front gate knew Rose and she was unforgettable. Rose worked with the State of Georgia Department of Corrections for over 30 years. Anyone that knew Rose, knew she had a big personality and if she liked you, she loved you and if she didn’t, you knew it. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Marvin “Bill” Cecil Allen and their children, Judy Pettigrew and Debbie King; 2nd husband, Robert “Bob” M. Hall, Nephew, Ronnie Petrey.
Survivors include: Daughter, Pam Garner and husband, Scott of Valdosta, GA; Brothers, Elbert Petrey and wife Judy of Kentucky, James Petrey of Ohio, Darrell Petrey and wife Tammy of Kentucky; Grandchildren: Douglas McCracken (Tabitha), Kristin Harrington (Dustin), Matthew Pettigrew (Tina), Trent King, Melissa Feathers; Great Grandchildren: London Papa, Jaxson Webb, Reese Jackson, Briggs Pettigrew, Bristol McCracken, Peyton Stewart, Hudson Jackson, Dalton McCracken, Dawson McCracken; Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 10, 2021 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the funeral home. Kind messages and memories may be shared online at
