Roy J. DeVane – 80
Of Valdosta, GA passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 20, 1934 in Nashville, GA to the late Edgar and Mamie Jeanes DeVane. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. DeVane retired from the Georgia Power Company after 34 years of service. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta.
His survivors include his Wife of 56 1/2 years, Janice Weaver DeVane of Valdosta, GA; Sons & Daughters-in-Law, Steve & Carmen DeVane of Thomasville, GA, Brent & Amy DeVane of Macon, GA; Daughter & Son-in-Law, Angie & Scott Nichols of Valdosta, GA; Grandchildren, Brooke StricklandRobbie of Valdosta, GA, Christie HarrellJosh of Valdosta, GA, Taylor DeVaneLangley of Thomasville, GA, Abbi DeVane of Thomasville, GA, Nathan DeVane of Macon, GA, Sunny DeVane of Macon, GA; Great Grandchildren, Rylin Strickland of Valdosta, GA, Karsyn Strickland of Valdosta, GA, Levi Harrell of Valdosta, GA; Brother & Sister-in-Law, Max & Lois DeVane of Americus, GA; and a Sister, Mary Francis Branch of Tifton, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta, GA with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00PM until the time of the funeral. Sympathy may be expressed online at
