Roy "Buddy" Harris, Sr. – 88
Of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born in Lowndes County on June 8, 1922 to the late Tom Tinker & Estelle Hunter Harris. Mr. Harris served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked in the construction business all of his working life. He began his 40 year construction career as a self employed carpenter and later moved into roofing. In his spare time he loved to walk and fish. Mr. Harris was Pentecostal by faith. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kevin Carter, sister, Ruth Morgan and a brother, T.J. Harris.
He is survived by his: Wife of 64 years, Mildred Harris, Valdosta, GA; Daughters & Son-in-law, Susan Moore, Valdosta, GA, Sandra & Roger Hicklen, Ardmore, TN, Gail Pritchett, Valdosta, GA; Sons & Daughters-in-law, R.W. Harris & Robin Boyd, Valdosta, GA, Danny & Charlotte Harris, Lake Park, GA, Tim & Caroline Harris, Valdosta, GA; 18 Grandchildren; 31 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren; Sisters & Brother-in-law, Vivian Lehman, Valdosta, GA, Christine Dennis, Valdosta, GA, Mary Linahan, Valdosta, GA, Lucy Faye & Dick Grover, McDonough, GA, Shirley Jean Vallee, Lake Park, GA; Brothers, Ton Harris, Quitman, GA, Murray Harris, Valdosta, GA; A number of nieces & nephews
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 22, 2010 in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the funeral home.
