Roy Lavern Miller

Roy Lavern “Killer” Miller, age 79, Homerville, Georgia, passed away Sunday morning, August 23, 2026, at The Canopy at Azalea Grove in Valdosta, GA. He was born to loving parents, Lossie Lee Miller and Ava Nell Browning Miller, in Nashville, GA on April 23, 1947.

Lavern loved his family dearly and took great pride in the life he built with them. He worked for 30 years with CSX, Chessie System, and Seaboard Coast Line Industries, dedicating much of his career to the railroad.

He was a hardworking entrepreneur and the proud owner of “Killer Miller” Knife Sharpening. Above all, his family was the most important part of his life, and the memories he created with them will be cherished always.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eloise Sirmans and Hilda Fay Miller; brothers, Jerry, Skeet, Willis, Fennis and Raymond Miller; daughter Charlotte Ann Miller and stepdaughter, Marla Lupo Burkett.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Margaret Miller of Homerville, GA; son, Gaylon “Dragline” Miller (Lisa Spangler) of Lakeland, GA; stepdaughter, Kim Ratliff of Homerville, GA; stepson, Kevin Lupo (Joan) of New Jersey and granddaughter, Mercedes Miller of Hartley, TX; sisters, Janice Harnage of Lakeland, GA and Deneen Miller of Nashville, GA; brother Geral (Nancy) Miller of Jackson GA and sister in law, Carolyn Miller of Valdosta, GA and several step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

A private graveside service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association.
