Ruby Nell Jernigan – 85 of Lake Park, Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 in the South Georgia Medical Center after an illness. Ruby was born on December 13, 1935 in Clara, Mississippi to the late Prudie Mae (Riley) and Albert Cooley. She owned and operated her own residential personal care business for many years. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed flowers, watching movies, and WWE Monday Night Raw. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jernigan; Sons: Billy Joe Jernigan, Ralph Jernigan; Son-in-law, Rick Frontera; Brothers: L.J. Cooley, Benny Cooley, T.L. Cooley.
Survivors include her Daughters: JoAnn J. Snellgrove and husband, Roger of Valdosta, GA, Diane J. Stephens and husband, James of Lake Park, GA; Son, Frank Jernigan of Valdosta, GA; Daughter-in-law, Leanne Jernigan of Sails Berry, NC; Grandchildren: Chris, Joey, Elexis, Jennifer, Kenneth, Jessica, Patrick, Kimberley, Collette; 7 great grandchildren: Sisters: Loumell C. Catlett of Donaldson, AK, Virgina Smith of Clara, MS; Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Services for Ruby will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. A burial will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery of Valdosta, Georgia. The family will see friends one hour prior to services. Messages of sympathy can be left at
