Ruth Ellen Benefield – 79
Of Lakeland passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at her residence. She was born September 2, 1942, in Atkinson County, Georgia to the late Citha Gentry Browning and James Browning. She was employed as a machine operator with Levi Strauss for 39 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elijah Benefield, a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Patricia Benefield.
Survivors include: son Dennis Benefield (Rose), Lakeland, Georgia; daughter Ann Turner (Randy), Lakeland, Georgia; grandsons: Henry Steedley (Molly), T. J. Benefield (Jessica), Matthew Peebles (Katelyn) Sean Peebles (Chazy); granddaughters: Tiffany Farr (Jon), Amber Adams (Bryan), Hanna Kimbrough (Zae) 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Mable Bolling, Lakeland, Georgia, Marie Coble, Valdosta, Georgia and brother Wendell Browning, Lakeland, Florida
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Refuge Church in Lakeland with burial to follow in Fender Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
