Sarah Kate "Katie" O'Brien – 80

Of Lakeland, Georgia passed away August 20, 2011 at the Consulate Health Care in Tallahassee, Florida, following an extended illness. She was born on March 27, 1931, in Lakeland, Georgia; the daughter of the late Dora and Frank Fender. She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Tommy O'Brien. She is survived by three daughters; Angela O'Brien-Ruff Leonard of Seattle, Washington, Dawn De'Ette Straley Jeff of Tallahassee, Charlotte Ann O'Brien of Lakeland, Georgia and one son, Larry Thomas O'Brien of Lakeland, Georgia. Katie has four grandchildren; Rachel De'Ann Lawlor Ken of Valdosta, Georgia, Adrien O'Brien and her son Bennett of Hahira, Zachary O'Brien of Hahira, and Evan Ruff of Seattle, Washington. Katie's great pleasures in life were her family, gardening, fishing with Tommy and quilting with her friends. Everyone remembers her smile and her wave as they drove by the O'Brien farm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, August 25, 2011. Please join family and friends for a memorial service celebrating her life at 11:00 am, Friday, Aug 26, 2011 in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services.
