Sarah Courson – 81
Of Valdosta passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 at her home in Live Oak, FL. Mrs. Courson was born on August 26, 1926, after her father George Washington Duggan immigrated to America from Ireland as a young boy. Mrs. Courson's father and mother, Trudie Lou Woods, married and had 8 children of which Sarah was the youngest and last to survive. As a young woman, she was a Candy-Striper at South Georgia Medical Center. Then she chose to be a homemaker and loving dedicated wife to Calvin Jesse Courson whom she was married to for 57 years until he passed away on June 7, 1999. She always said he was the "purtiest" thing she's ever laid eyes on when she first met him at the picture show at age 11.
Sarah is survived by 2 Daughters & Sons-in-law, Anita & Thomas J. Murphy, Jr., Virginia & Robert Downs, 7 Grandchildren: Tina Dixon, Robert C. Simpson, III, Kristina Cantwell, Angela Lavigne, Amanda Gandiana, Charlotte Gandiana, & Crystal Gandiana, 15 Great Grandchildren
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 8, 2008 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral services with the Rev. V.L. Daughtery officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the funeral home.
