It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sarah Katelyn Davis, a recent graduate of Valdosta State University, who lost her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on October 12, 2024.
Born on April 23, 1999, in Valdosta, Georgia, Sarah was a young woman of many interests. She loved dance, having practiced ballet at Dance Arts and Valdosta School of Ballet for more than 2 decades. The discipline gained from so many years of training showed through in many aspects of her life. She valued her education greatly. Even after her battle with cancer had begun, Sarah maintained her academic career, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history in December of 2023.
Sarah’s love of self-expression was not limited to the stage, she greatly enjoyed drawing and painting. If she wasn’t studying or dancing, she could often be found with a sketchbook in her lap and colored pencils close by. She drew a lot of her inspiration from the world around her. She had a tremendous appreciation for pop culture and kept abreast of current events. An outspoken Feminist, Sarah shared her views unapologetically.
Sarah is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Thomas C. Davis Jr. and Lavonne L. Davis; and her maternal grandparents: Grady H. Mixon and Irene C. Rogers.
She is survived by her loving Parents: Michael C. Davis and Missy M. Davis of Valdosta; her younger brother: J.T. Davis of Atlanta; and a close-knit circle of family and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 19, 2024, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends to celebrate her life from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, October 18, 2024, at Music Funeral Services. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at

The Davis family is being served by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta.
It’s very hard to accept the loss of a 25-year-old and even harder still for a 25-year-old who loved life as much as my sister. Sarah had so many interests that she never had the opportunity to expand on. I take comfort only in the knowledge that her commitment to individuality and self-expression will undoubtedly serve as an inspiration to all who knew her. We thank you all for your condolences and support at this time.
