Sarah Schonholtz Register passed away at home following a period of illness. She was a faithful and loving mother and wife. Most of the young adults of Lanier County knew her as the Librarian at the Primary school, but I want to tell you of a different side of her. She was originally from Long Beach California and moved to this area after her marriage and time spent moving around to Duty stations with her Navy husband. She spent these years as many of that generation, caring for her family and raising us children. Then in her mid-thirties she chose to recast her life. She took a job as a Teachers aid and started taking college classes for a Teaching degree of her own. She also learned to drive and got her license, just in time to start teaching all of us boys to drive. She attended college at night while still working, caring for her family and the extra duties of a farmer’s wife. She got her degree, graduating with honors and began teaching. Still not done, she continued to attend college and completed the requirements to become a Librarian and finally completed her Master's degree, once again graduating with honors. Through all this time she continued to be active in the church and sing in the choir. Once she was financially able she supported many causes from sponsoring children in other countries to supporting our troops deployed in hostile locations.
She is survived by 3 sons; John Register, Bill Register and his wife Tina Register from Lake City, Florida and Donny Register, 2 brothers, David Cobb and Bruce Cobb, 10 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild. She was proceeded by her husband, William Register, father, Albert Schonholtz, mother and step-father, Mildred and Otho Cobb, a sister Carol Brown and Daughter-in-Law Denise Register
