Sgt. Ronnie L. Shelley, Sr. 34
of Valdosta passed away Saturday, July 30, 2005 after injuries sustained in Iraq while defending the freedom of our country. He was born on May 25, 1971 in Bibb County, Georgia. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, barbequing and camping with family and friends every Memorial day. While in Virginia he would hit golf balls off the top of the mountain while yelling Four so it would echo for miles. He was a man who enjoyed his family especially, spending time with his children. His service to his country started with 8 years in the United States Marine Corps where he served proudly in the Persian Gulf War. Then he joined the Georgia Army National Guard with the 48th Brigade in the Mechanized Infantry Co. A 2nd Batt. 121st Inf. M 48th BCT until he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. Sgt. Shelley was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Alfred Shelley.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the Georgia Army National Guard Armory, 2200 Cypress St., Valdosta, Ga. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P. M. Saturday, with the family will receiving friends between 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery with full military honors. Sympathy may be expressed online at
