Shannon Shontz, 53
Of Lakeland, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Lakeland Villa. He was born to the late Stephen Shontz and Vicki Shontz Carratt on September 1, 1971, in Savannah, Georgia.
Shannon was an all-around dynamic individual, known for his energy and enthusiasm. In high school, he was a standout on the football field. Outside of sports, Shannon was deeply involved in the ROTC, where his leadership and discipline shone through. He also had a passion for the outdoors, contributing to Ducks Unlimited and advocating for conservation efforts. Above all, Shannon had a magnetic personality. His fun-loving nature made him the life of any room, and his outgoing spirit meant he never met a stranger.
Along with his father, Shannon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Myron and Eva Boatright; and his paternal grandfather, Harold Shontz.
Survivors include his mother, Vicki Carratt (Louie) of Valdosta, Georgia; son, Patrick Shontz of Texas; brother, Jamie Shontz of Valdosta, Georgia; aunt, Jennifer Edwards (Doug) of Barney, Georgia; special cousins, Shane and Michele Edwards of Barney, Georgia; grandmother, Barbara Shontz of Florida; special aunt, Leslie Yates-Brusher of Melbourne, Florida; and numerous special friends, aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 7, 2025, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at
