Shirley Fletcher Scarborough – 74

Of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2009 in Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Jeff Davis County on June 22, 1934 to the late George Elbert & Matisha Carver Fletcher of Jeff Davis County. She graduated from Jeff Davis County High School in 1952. She married Charles Theo Scarborough on March 2, 1957. She was a house wife and mother of 4 children and taught school in Jeff Davis County, Lanier County and Atkinson County. She had a family Day Care for 14 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her 3 brothers, Milton Fletcher, Felton Fletcher, and Gerald Fletcher

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2009 in Mt. Pleasant / Byrd Baptist Church in Jeff Davis County, GA with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Scarborough will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the funeral home.
