Sylvia Miller Carter

Sylvia Miller Carter – 70 of Nashville passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 in the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born on March 19, 1947 in Hahira, GA to the late Elzie N. & Elizabeth (Gallagher) Miller. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ray City where she served as the director of Vacation Bible School for many years. She retired as a parapro from Berrien Middle School after 22 years of service. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and supporting them in all their activities. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Nadine Register and brother, Clyde Miller.
Survivors Include: Husband of 51 years, Fred Carter, Nashville; 3 Daughters & Sons-in-law: Amy & David Pope, Valdosta, Angela & Daniel Williams, Ray City, Allison & Jim Pope, Nashville; 10 Grandchildren: Reid Pope (Haylee), Cory Pope, Kaelan Bullard, Bailey Bullard, Kailey Williams, Hailey Williams, Dylan Williams, Carter Pope, Nickolas Pope & Christopher Pope; Great Granddaughter: Tenley Claire Pope; Special Niece: Karen Register Wheless (Bill), Nashville; Great Nephew : Brian Wheless(Robin), Fleming Island, FL and Great Great Niece: Sasha Wheless, Fleming Island, FL
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in the First Baptist Church of Ray City with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Carter will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday evening, January 29, 2018 at the funeral home.
