Sylvia Jean Wilkes – 92
Of Valdosta passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida. She was born in Nashville, Georgia to the late Flonnie Weaver and William Wilkes. Jean began working with Bell South in 1947 and transitioned into the material service coordinator role for AT & T, retiring in 1990 after service with a total of 43 years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include: niece, Peggy Wilkes Adkins of Lake Helen, Florida; nephew Colin Slade Wilkes of Gainesville, Florida; and a special friend John Bolton of Lake Park, Georgia
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 o’clock p.m. on February 22, 2022 at Pleasant Cemetery in Ray City, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the cemetery thirty minutes prior to the service. Kind words and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
