Mr. Thurman Meeks, age 89, of Valdosta, Georgia, died Friday, September 3, 2021 at Langdale Hospice House, Valdosta, Georgia. Thurman was born December 8, 1931 to the late Idell Music and Walter Meeks in Millwood, Georgia. He enjoyed many successful years in business as the owner of Captain T’s of Valdosta, Georgia. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church; he loved to play golf and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Jeanette Allen Meeks.
Survivors include his three daughters, Lisa M. Cartrett and husband Mike, Karen M. Batchelor and Kay M. Anaya-Rubio and husband Jesse, all of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren: Brandon Cartrett and wife Erin, Melissa Cowart and husband Jessie, Ashlie Harrell and husband Kyle, Audrey Batchelor, Amber Tucker and Nicholas Anaya-Rubio and nine great-grandchildren; several cousins also survive.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Music Funeral Services, 3831 North Valdosta Road, Valdosta, Georgia 31602. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the funeral services that will be held at 11:00 o’clock AM, Saturday, September, 11, 2021 in the Chapel of Music Funeral Home, 1503 Tebeau Street, Waycross, GA 31501. Burial will follow in Telmore Church Cemetery, Telmore Church Road, Ware County, Georgia.
