Timothy D. Wright, 79, of Valdosta, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, after a hard-fought battle against Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). He was born on March 25, 1943, in Richmond, VA to the late Kendell W. Wright and Frances M. Sharp.
After graduating from Benedictine High School in 1961, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was deployed to Vietnam in 1966. Tim was discharged with a purple heart and upon his return, met the love of his life, Livian Wright, and got married in 1967. Tim and Livian completed their family with their two children, Chris Wright and Shannon Wright.
Tim also served in the Georgia Army National Guard and retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. For his service in Vietnam, he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, an Air Force Good Conduct Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal with three campaign stars, the RVN Gallantry Cross with Palm, an Air Force Combat Action Medal, an RVN Wound Medal, and an RVN Campaign Medal. Tim was a member of the Valdosta Elks Lodge, The Knights of Columbus, and the South Georgia Classic City Car Club.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Steedley, his children Chris Wright, Shannon Wright, Robert Steedley (Wife Debbie Steedley), and Sharon Brown, his siblings Kendall Wright and Welford “Wil” Wright, their spouses Patty and Anne, his cousin, Nina who is like a sister, his grandchildren Kenzie Warren, Mason and Max Wright, Caitlyn Williams, Courtney Steedley, Savannah Steedley, Brooke Qilafi, and Allison Singletary. He is predeceased by his first wife Livian Wright, and sister, Patricia Wright.
Family and friends are invited to his funeral service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services, Valdosta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Pine Forrest Cemetery in Homerville, GA. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left to the family at
