Tolbert “Ed” Edgar Carter, 84, of Jennings, Florida, passed away on March 18, 2025, at his residence. He was born on November 3, 1940, to the late Howard and Hulda Jane (Belcher) Carter in Earling, West Virgina. He was a passionate NASCAR fan, always cheering loudly for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, as he watched every race with unwavering excitement. He lived each day with a heart full of faith, finding purpose and joy in serving the Lord with every step he took.
Ed will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will always be in our hearts. He loved his grandchildren, and they held a special place in his heart especially Aiden and his three great grandchildren: Ryland, Maliki and Remi.
Tolbert is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Melissa Ann Carter; his sister Nelene Duty; his brother, Billy Gene Carter; his grandson, Thomas Stevens and his brother-in-law, “Junior” William Dillion.
Survivors include his wife; Barbara “Bobbie” Carter of Jennings, Florida; sons: Jason Carter of Jennings, Florida and Eddie Carter of Akron, Ohio; grandchildren: Eddie Carter, Jr, Hannah Carter, Amber Raylnn Carter, Brittany Galloway (Shawn), Dakota Stevens, Alyssa Carter, Jaidah Carter, Aiden Carter, Ashton Frederick, Abigail Frederick and Analise Frederick; great-grandchildren: Remi, Maliki, and Ryland Galloway; brother, Howard Carter, Jr. (Freida) Gilbert West Virginia; and his special friend, Darlene Duty of Oceana, West Virgina.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025 in the chapel of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta with burial to follow in Lake Park City Cemetery. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at
