He was born in Long County, Georgia on September 16, 1915 to the late Thomas and Coriane Hodges Smith. He was a heavy machine operator for Shaw Farms. He is a member or Solemon Lodge #1 in Savannah, Georgia, Honorary member of the Lakeland Lodge #434 and Zamora Temple in Savannah, Georgia. He is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
