Tommy Carter, Sr. - 65
Of Valdosta, GA passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 6, 1952 in Valdosta, GA to the late Harry Chandler and Ozell Hughes Carter. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a faithful servant of God and he loved Calvary Baptist Church. Tommy was a carpenter for VSU for numerous years and was a mechanical genius. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson Cody Morris, and his father-in-law Jim Wilson. Survivors include: Wife of 48 years, Lucy P. Carter of Valdosta, GA; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Christy & Leon Meeks of Valdosta, GA; Son & Daughter-in-Law, Thomas “Bucky”, Jr. & Laura Carter of Valdosta, GA; Grandchildren: Erica Alese Morris, Ashley Elizabeth Carter, Landon Thomas Breeden; Brother, Ashley & Sheila Carter of Florida;
Sisters and Brother-in-Law Sandra Nash of Valdosta, GA; Marsha & Bo Foster of North Carolina; Mother-in-law Ruby Wilson of Americus, GA; Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law Chris and Ed Reid of Americus, GA; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Donald and Wanda Wilson of Americus, GA; Several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with burial to follow in Carter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the funeral home.
