Udell Trowell

Udell Trowell, 83, of 2217 Riverside Drive, Valdosta, Ga., 31602 passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at home. She was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Coffee County, Ga., to the late James Franklin Bryan and Elizabeth Lavinia 'Bolden' Bryan of the Pridgen Community in Coffee County. Mrs. Trowell was a retired widow, married to the late Johnnie Alfred Trowell of Broxton, Ga. She lived most of her life at 125 Sam Jones Road in the Pridgen Community and was a member of the Pridgen Baptist Church. For the past five years, she attended Gateway Baptist Church.

Mrs. Trowell — one of 10 children — is survived by five siblings, Inez Byrd of Sarasota, Dock Bryan of Pridgen, Edell Merritt her twin of Brunswick, Marilyn Griffin of Valdosta, and David Bryan of Valdosta. Five months earlier, she was preceded in death by her son, James Richard 'Ricky' Trowell. In her immediate family, she is survived by her only daughter, Judy Martin of Hahira, Ga.; a grandson, Scott Davis; and granddaughter, Danielle Martin, both of Valdosta; as well as a great-grandson, Ty Cayden Toole of Savannah, Ga. She will be sorely missed by those who loved her most.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Gateway Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Seiverd officiating. Mrs. Trowell will lie in state in the church one hour prior to the funeral service. A graveside service will follow in Pridgen Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffee County at 1 p.m.

The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. May 22, 2013 at Music Funeral Home in Valdosta.
