She was born on March 31, 1926 in Nashville, GA to the late James (Jim) Edward and Lily (Kirby) Parker. Mrs. Vera Mae was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ray City, GA. She also participated in the Ladies Auxiliary – Lodge 13 and Woodmen Lodge 6018. Her hobbies included sewing and gardening. Along with her parents, she is proceeded in death by her husband, Jesse Mose Metts; sons, Eston Lamar Metts and Jessie Melvin Metts; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Survivors include Son and Daughter-in-law, Steven and Dona Metts of Lakeland, GA; Grandchildren, Richard Metts of Valdosta, GA, Nathan Metts of Newnan, GA, Jessica (Metts) and Eric Newsome of Lakeland, GA, Kristina and Warner Montalbon of Winston, GA, Julie and Matthew Harnage of Lakeland, GA; 9 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 3rd, in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Lakeland, GA, with no formal visitation. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
