Of Quitman passed away Sunday, August 9, 2009 at his residence after a short illness. He was born in Miami, FL on December 8, 1947 to Murial Robinson Downs of Valdosta, GA and the late Clisby V. Downs. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church.
Along with his mother he is survived by his:Wife, Vicky Downs, Brooks County, GA, Children, Sandy & Neil Hawley, Belinda Downs, James & Stephanie Downs, all of Brooks County, GA, Grandchildren, Loren, Elizabeth & Patrick Moore, Steven, Harley, Christopher & Ethan Downs all of Brooks County, GA, Step Grandchildren, Ashley & Amy Hawley both of Valdosta, GA, Brother & Sister-in-law, Hugh & Joyce Downs, Valdosta, GA, Host of Nieces and Nephews
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in Gateway Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Presbyterian Hospice a ministry of Presbyterian Home of Georgia or The American Cancer Society.
