Walter E. “Papa” Wacter, Jr. – 87 of Lake Park, GA passed away Saturday afternoon, October 13, 2018 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born on December 10, 1930 in Adel, GA to the late Walter E. & Winnie (Blount) Wacter, Sr. Walter served in the United States Air Force. W.E. spent a lifetime in public service, serving in various capacities to include: Chief Deputy of Lowndes County Sheriff Department, Tifton Chief of Police, Valdosta Police Department and Lowndes County Coroner’s Office. Following retirement, he began his career working with Music Funeral Services and continued to work there until his death. He was a charter member of Francis Lake Baptist Church. Walter also was a member of the American Legion and the Peace Officer Association of Georgia. Along with his parents he was proceeded in death by his wife of 66 years, Marie Wacter, brothers: Bill Wacter, Edgar Wacter & sisters: Mary Short, Carolyn Powell, Sarah Hall, Margaret Wilson, Elmer Hutchinson and Vonnie Moore.
Survivors include his Son and Daughter-in-Law, Walter Wacter, III (DeDe) of Lake Park, GA; Daughters & Sons-in-Law, Wanda Julka (Jim) of Marietta, GA, Wilma Music (Dub) of Lakeland, GA; Grandchildren, Kevin Wacter (Erin), Christy Whitaker (John), Trella Whitford, Ashley Clark (David), Nicole Dye (Kyle Ripley), Casey Music (Brooke), Michael Music (Kristy), Lee Music (April Browning), Kyle Music (Laura Griffith), Great Grandchildren, Shaw Wacter, Brynn Wacter, Ellie Whitaker, Jules Whitaker, Jenna Whitaker, Trace Whitford, Logan Clark, Kylee Clark, Declan Clark, Abigail Clark, Kaytibeth Music, Aubrey Music, Hudson Music, Josie Music, Emory Kate Music, Trenton Harnage, brothers: Raymond Wacter (Britta) & Bobby Wacter (Betty) & several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Walter & Marie will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Francis Lake Baptist Church, Lake Park, GA.
