Walter Permenter, 81, of Statenville, GA passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Lakehaven Nursing Home in Valdosta. He was born July 6, 1928 in Echols County to the late James Walter Permenter and Ola Eddy Permenter. He was employed at Owens-Illinois in the power house. Along with working at Owens-Illinois, he farmed and served as an Echols County Commissioner.
Survivors include his sons & daughters-in-law, Gene & Paula Permenter of Auburndale, FL; and Freddy & Patsy Permenter of Statenville, GA; his daughter & son-in-law, Charlene & Dan Davis of Valdosta, GA; Seven grandchildren, Danielle Davis, Clayton Davis, Kaitlyn Permenter, Robert Permenter, Brandy Jordan, Rhonda Reynolds and Randy Purvis; 8 Great- Grandchildren;and a sister, Iduma Smith of Madison, FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Ruby Davis, Garland Permenter, Woodrow Permenter, Ethel Dasher, Vera Henderson, Minnie Rice, and Carrie Henderson.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Wayfare Cemetery in Echols County with Rev. Ted Sauls and Rev. Alton Hardee officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 7-9 pm at Music Funeral Services, 3831 North Valdosta Road, Valdosta, GA.
