Of Valdosta passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 in Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 03, 1936 in Tifton to the late Nezzip & Grace Alexander Barnes. Mr. Barnes served in the United State Army. He was a fire fighter for 4 years and a boxing champion. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother & sister-in-law, Harold & Nancy Barnes.

Survivors include:Wife, JoAnn Barnes, Valdosta, GA, Daughter & Sons-in-law, Sandy & Benny Crooms, Atlanta, GA, Tracie & Andrew Parker, Valdosta, GA, Son & Daughter-in-law, Jason & Sandy Barnes, Ray City, GA, Grandchildren: Benny Crooms, Jr., Trish Freemen, Nathan Barnes & Aaron Parker, 2 Great Grandchildren, Sister, Frances Blanton, Valdosta, GA, Several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, December 13, 2007 in the Lighthouse Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Burt officiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Dam Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the funeral home.
