Wayne Faulkner – 81
Of Lakeland passed away at his residence on Saturday, September 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 7, 1940 in Nashville, Georgia to the late Clarence Harmon and Estie Hughes Faulkner. He worked with Georgia Power and also self-employed electrician with Milltown Electric. Wayne was a dedicated Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Lakeland Fire Department for over 45 years. He was also the instigator and founding member of the Lakeland/Lanier County Civil Defense and Rescue Squad. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Vernon Faulkner, Clarence Faulkner, Jr., William “Bill” Faulkner and wife Alma, Desso Faulkner and wife Daisey.
Survivors include: Loving wife of 58 Years Carolyn Faulkner Lakeland, Georgia, Son Charlie Gyr and wife Katrina Lakeland, Georgia, Grandson Davis Gyr Lakeland, Georgia Sister-in-law Geraldine Faulkner May, Ray City, Georgia Numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, Georgia with burial following in the Riverside Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County.
