Webster Howell "Friendly" Hendley, 85, of Valdosta passed away Friday, November 28, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Berrien County on March 16, 1923 to the late Daniel Webster and Ollie Lee Green Hendley. He was a retired mechanic and owned a number of service stations in the Valdosta area, he also served his country in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Hendley was a member of the Perimeter Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one daughter Patty Karen Hendley, a sister Eula Mae Bonner Foster, and 4 brothers Wallace Heyward Hendley, Hubert W. Hendley, Johnny V. Hendley and Jimmy Hendley. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Hendley; two daughters and sons-in-law Deborah Elaine and Kenneth Walker, Carrolton, Ga. and Brenda Kay and Mike Bailey, Valdosta, Ga.; three sons and daughters-in-law; Robert Howell and Linda Lou Hendley, DuPont, Ga., Donald Jerome Hendley, Valdosta, Ga., Paul Anthony and Laurie Hendley, Inverness, Fl.; three sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Lou Hendley, Washington, D.C., Annie Ruth Powers, Barretts, Ga., and Francis Reghnia and Roy Spray, Nashville, Ga., two brothers and sister-in law, Hillman and Lilly Hendley, Clyattville, Ga., and Bobby Jack Hendley, Lakeland, Ga., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a number of stepchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2008, in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in the Webb Hendley Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Music Funeral Services in Valdosta.
