Of Lakeland, passed away Monday, November 26, 2007 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born March 2, 1933 in Fulton, Georgia to the late William Homer; Sr. and Iona Davis. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years. He received the Navy Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, .45 Pistol Expert and M-14 Rifle Sharpshooter. He received the Vietnamese Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and Vietnamese Campaign Medal during his service in the Vietnam War. He received the Presidential Unit Citation for his service in the Korean War. After retiring he was employed with Ganas Hardware. He was a member of First Baptist Church Lakeland.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with entombment following in the Greenlawn Garden Mausoleum. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:00 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The young men that played on his football teams are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers at his service. Music Funeral Services of Lakeland is serving the Davis family.
