William “W.D.” Dilmus Richardson, age 81, of Lakeland, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on December 26, 1940 in Lakeland, Georgia to the late Mattie Belle Tomlinson Richardson and John Ellis Richardson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved fishing, music and barbecuing. Mr. William retired with Norfolk Southern Railway after thirty years of service. As a Special Agent with the railroad, he competed with the DEA, FBI and other law enforcement agencies, where he won numerous awards in marksmanship. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, J.B. “Buddy” Richardson; three sisters, Mable R. Sirmans, Josephine R. Weisman and Lillian Richardson.
Survivors include his Loving Wife of fifty-seven years, Latrelle B. Richardson, Lakeland, Georgia; children, Amanda R. Verser and husband Marcea of Marietta, Georgia, Ellis Richardson and wife Michelle of Cairo, Georgia; two grandchildren, Peyton Phelps and husband Brandon and Maryellis Richardson; two great grandchildren, Brayden Phelps and Bowen Phelps; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell Brantley and wife Debbie of Hahira, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in Branch Cemetery, Lakeland, Georgia.
