Of Lakeland passed away early Tuesday morning, May 18, 2010 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born March 3, 1923 to the late Thomas Jefferson and Agnes Belle Hall Durrance in Berrien County, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a logger by trade and Baptist by Faith. He was attending Lovejoy Community Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Mathis Durrance; Son, William Aaron Durrance, Jr.; Step-Son, Charles R. Griffis.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lakeland, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday & Thursday, May 19th & 20th in Lakeland, from 6:00 8:00 p.m.
