William “Bill” Geyer, Jr., 77, of Hahira, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Canopy at Azalea Grove in Valdosta. He was born on February 20, 1949, in Millis, Massachusetts, to the late William Walter and Ruth Lillian (Howie) Geyer, Sr.
A proud patriot, Bill honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and was a dedicated member of American Legion Post 218 in Hahira. Following his military service, he devoted many years of service to the Georgia Department of Corrections, where he built a respected career and retired as a Maintenance Supervisor.
Bill was a devoted member of Hahira Baptist Church, where he faithfully worshiped and cherished the fellowship of his church family.
Bill had a deep love for adventure, travel, and the outdoors. He enjoyed traveling and camping, proudly visiting nearly every state in the nation, missing only four or five. He especially treasured time spent fishing the flats off Keaton Beach, Florida.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by 4 sisters and a brother.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mrytle Carter Geyer of Valdosta, Georgia; 2 sons and 2 grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Geyer (Liuda) of Bellingham, Massachusetts and David Geyer (Debbie) of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Paula Carter of Lake Park, Georgia; nephew, Doug Carter (Christy) of Valdosta, Georgia; nieces: Suzanne Keeffe (Tom) of New Hampshire and Melissa Boatenreiter (Lee) of Lake Park, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. A visitation will be held the night prior from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. The burial is to follow the service at Fellowship Cemetery, Cecil, GA. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Judes Chrildren Hospital. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com. The Geyer family is being served by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services of Valdosta.
