William "Bill" Howard Mobley – 83
Of Valdosta passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida after a brief illness. He was born in Clinch County, Ga on December 31, 1931 to the late Clifford D. and Carrie T. Mobley. While stationed at Moody Air Force Base, he met and married the love of his life, Marilyn McGrotha on March 9, 1958. He retired from the United States Air Force with over 20 years of service. While serving his country he began his career in data processing, which he continued for the remainder of his working career. He worked for First State Bank, Park Avenue Bank and as an independent computer consultant until his retirement in 2001. He was an active member of Grace Community Chapel where he served as deacon and church treasurer. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Betty McBride, Louise Kent, Mildred Mobley and Carolyn Griffin and brother, Paul Mobley.
Survivors Include: Wife of 57 years, Marilyn McGrotha Mobley, Valdosta, GA; Sister, Lawanna Balmer, Flowery Branch, GA; Daughter & Son-in-law, Susan & Bill Charles, Cairo, GA; Son & Daughter-in-law, Mark & Michele Ingram Mobley, Roswell, GA; 6 Grandchildren: Emily CastleberryJason, Bradley CharlesJessie, Katie MeissnerScott, David CharlesSharlotte, Ryan Mobley and Rhett Mobley; 6 Great Grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
As per his wishes he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 20, 2015 at Grace Community Chapel, 4513 Bemiss Road, Valdosta, GA 31605. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the services at the church. Sympathy may be expressed online at
